The Best and Worst Days of my Life

Sun Dec 14, 2008, 6:37 AM
Yay! I'm (for now) back onto updating once a month, as was my original plan. And boy, has it been a busy month. For the first time in my life, I don't have the pressure and guilt from not doing school-work piling up on me. It's fantastic!

Unfortunately, it seems that school has now been replaced by work. I've come to dread the weekends when I have to get up early and stand around for 6+ hours. It's quite monotonous, but the pays not bad. Just have to get through it and enjoy my time off.

Schoolies in Sorrento was mostly fantabulous. Our house was great and only a couple of minutes walk from the shop, but the weather the first couple of days wasn't that great. It got better though. My main gripe is about our house-mates, or one in particular, who I shall call MD. Now, normally MD is a bit school orientated and pedantic (she's also vegetarian and very strong in her beliefs), at least that's what I thought before I started living with her. I always knew that she didn't really like me that much. When we were invited,, it was as back-ups, as MD's other friends couldn't go. So there were four people on MD's side and three people on mine. They all slept in the same room, on bunk-beds. They did there own activities. They ate on their own. They didn't share food. (Although three of them were vego's and one was allergic to gluten) It wasn't a lot like I thought it would be. We were so... segregated.

It started when we came up a day late, as that was the only time my Dad could drive us. (Thanks Dad!) From there on out things only got worse. We all made our own meals, and had our own groceries. One morning, my friend wanted to butter one slice of toast with MD's butter. She was all 'I don't know about that.' There was half a blinking tub left! She said it was because she needed it all for she was making pancakes the next day, but it was only one frikkin slice of toast! It wouldn't of exactly made a huge difference! Things like that make me so mad. :shakefish:

On another day, us three took the bus down to Portsea, and while we were there, MD called us to say that there was going to be a surprise inspection in 10 minutes. Now, we were too far away to make it back in time, but MD was pretty pissed as our rooms were quite messy. It wasn't our fault! How were we supposed to know there'd be an inspection that morning? Should we just stay at the house in case someone decides to inspect it? MD got us feeling all guilty about something that wasn't our fault. My friend promised her we'd make it up to them by cleaning the whole house on the last day.

Now, it just so happened that my friend had invited two of her friends up to Sorrento for the day. MD had specifically told us not to let anyone else sleep in the house. One of the invited girls went home, but the other decided to stay over. My friend had the brilliant idea of sneaking her in the window and keeping her hidden in the bedroom all night, then she would leave early in the morning. I was quite distraught at the whole thing, as I knew I couldn't lie to save my life. But I needn't have worried. After barely fifteen minutes of hiding, MD found out. What followed was my friend lying out of her teeth (she's very good at it) about how she had been surprised when her friend had shown up. I just ran out of the room until everyone calmed down. She was allowed to stay the night, but MD wasn't happy.

On the last day, my friends and I cleaned up all the communal rooms and out own quarters. We wiped and swept and vacuumed and everything. We had to take public transport home, and were planning to take the 10:30am bus, but we finished cleaning early, so politely informed MD, and she very reluctantly let us leave. The one bus that went through the area only came every 45 minutes. My friends and I got on the 9:45am bus and were on it for 15 minutes when my friend's mobile rang. Guess who? That's right, MD. She started saying something and my friend looked scared before pushing the phone into my hands. I heard MD ranting about how everything was still dirty, and we hadn't cleaned their bathroom, and out shower wasn't clean enough, and we'd promised to clean everything. I took a deep breath, then started ranting back at her. I informed her it wasn't our fault about the inspection, that we shouldn't have to clean up their crap, that we were sorry about not cleaning our stuff properly, but there was no way we were coming back and she could just take money out of our bond it she really wanted to. Without waiting for a reply, I hung up the phone. My friend was so happy that I'd finally talked back to MD.

After getting home finally, I was happy to never have to deal with MD ever again. I got all of my bond back, and everything had a happy ending. Yay-ness. Everything else about Sorrento was great. I bought tons of stuff and wasted so much money, but it was worth it.

In other news, I went to another 18th last Sunday. I actually wasn't even aware I was invited until Saturday. But I had pre-drinks at a friends and then a whole bunch of us took a maxi taxi to the party. Was pretty good, but we only stayed for a couple of hours and I didn't drunk much. But the company and dancing were pretty good. Fun times.

Last week, my family and I went to this big party thingy. As in, your meant to bring friends and family to it. Anyways, there was a raffle with first and second prize. We bought three tickets, and never really expected to win anything. Surprise though, we won first prize! I was holding the ticket but was too nervous to do anything so I just shoved it into my mum's hands and told her to get up there and collect the prize. It was a 1 hour massage, and my mum paid for the tickets, so she got it. Although I didn't get anything, it was still really exciting to win. I've never won anything like this before, and when buying these types of tickets, no-one ever expects to actually win anything. That was a good night.

Had my last piano lesson ever last week. Decided that I've learnt enough unless I want to do official levels, and that's way too much effort. So that's one thing less I have to do next year. Nice.

For my birthday in Feb, one of my presents was a facial and manicure voucher. I finally had it on Tuesday. I was just so busy during the year, and we weren't allowed nail polish in school. I was really nervous, as I've never had anything like this done to me before. It turned out to be pretty cool. I put on a robe and then this lady was massaging gunk onto my face, and I got a hand massage, and now my nails are all pretty. Very nice.

On the other side of the scales, I am quite pissed at my computer right now. Not only is it still all annoying and pop-upy from when it almost died, but now apparently it's too old as well! I recently obtained a copy of the PC edition of Assassin's Creed for half price. I've always thought that this game looked really cool, so you can imagine how excited I was when I finally had it in my hands. After installing it, I was horrified to find out that my 3-year-old computer was to old to handle the game. It wouldn't even load. The only way to fix it was to buy a new herd drive, and that wasn't going to happen any time soon. I was so pissed. I had wasted my valuable money on a game that wouldn't even work! My mum wanted me to return it, but I wasn't gonna do that. I'll keep it until I get a new computer. I can wait a long time...

The one good thing about this incident is that it spurred me to do something I had meant to do for a long time. I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but ever since it came out, and especially since Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out, I've really, really, really wanted a Wii. So I said to myself that I would get one once I finished year 12. Especially now that I have enough money from work. But I'm a naturally lazy person, so I hadn't done anything about it until now. Assassin's Creed now working got me in the mood for a new game, so I finally decided to officially get a Wii. I spent the next couple of days researching sales, but couldn't find anything good. Most packs were crap or came with really bad games. But eventually a new sale came out with a Wii, Wii Sports, 8-in-1 accessory pack, Spyro Dawn of the Dragon and Crash Mind over Mutant. I also found out about some other good sales for other games. I woke up early on Thursday morning and headed to the shops with my dad and my friend. I bought the above mentioned pack, plus SSBB, Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Play + Remote, Nunchuk and a component cable. I was so excited. That day was what is mentioned in my title as the best day of my life (so far). My friend and I got home and ripped off all the packaging to test drive all of the games. I haven't played much of the others, but SSBB is by far the most awesome-est game in the history of forever. I need to play more! Unlock everything!

But, this leads my to the other half of my journal title. The worst, most asdgklfdhsdjf day of my life. That's right, I'm getting my year 12 results. In about (checks clock) 6 1/2 hours. At 7am, Dec 15. Joy. I'm so worried and nervous and everything. And everyone and their brother expects me to get up at 7am and call them. I signed up to get my results SMS'd to me at 7, but I probably won't be able to open it. I know I didn't do fantastic, and my whole life depends on these results. So here, for the first time ever, I will guesstimate what my results will be. I haven't told anyone else what I think I'll get, so how about telling the whole of DA hours before I get the actual result? Ok, here I go. Subjects out of 50. ENTER out of 100.

English: 38
Literature: 32
Maths: 36
I.T.: 36
And I already got a 33 in Psych last year

ENTER: 74.65

There you go. Don't expect me to put my actual results up here. I guess it depends on what I get. =P

And before you ask, no. I have made absolutely no progress on anything writing related. And don't expect anything soon. I've got camp coming up next week (so no DA for a week, again), and then I plan to Wii it up till Uni starts in March.

Wow, this was a an incredible long journal entry. And a whole lot of text that even I would baulk at reading. I'm so glad that no-one reads these. It's like a secret diary where I can rant about everyday things that happen to me, when no-one in real life even cares. Man, am I a lonely little girl.

...

Oh well! Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate and have a Happy New Year! :cake:
